Demers Glass Redesign

ABOUT THE CLIENT
Redesigning the Demers Glass’s website was one of the first projects I had the oppurtunity to work on from start to finish with Overlap. I had the oppurtunity to work within the team on primary research, information architecture and UX design.

Elevating White Collar
Work Flow
When first working with Demers Glass Overlap designed them a website that they considered bare boned, something that delivered what Demers Glass needed at the time. However now that Demers Glass is wanting to grow our client decided they needed their website required an update that showed that they could provide great service.

What was the purpose of
this redesign?
We decided to speak with the client directly to figure out his needs from this website redesign, to figure out overall if there was even a need to begin with. After speaking with the client we decided that if we were to follow through with this redesign these challenges needed to be addressed with this
website redesign.
Challenges

GOAL
To increase the number of residential service customers
Right now the client has a steady supply of commercial jobs lined up, but wants to increase the number sales for residential jobs. Another thing to note is that most of the sales are made through phone calls, so connecting the potential customer to the sales team via phone is important.
How might we...
How might we show users our various services that fit
their needs
How might we simplify the process to connect the user to the sales team
How might we prioritize residential services over commercial services

RESEARCH
“How are other glass companies utilizing their websites to drive sales?”
I decided to conduct a competitive analysis of other glass companies that served Arizona. Focusing in on where provide their services, what services they provide, and what features/content existed on their website. Here are those findings:

Window & Glass Pros has grown to be one of the southwest’s largest glass replacement companies by providing quality service for a fair price.

MAIN FEATURES
& STRUCTURE
Site Map
Here is the information architecture that I created for the site:

User Flow (Customer &
Sales Rep)
To gain a better understanding of the process of attaining services from Demers Glass from beginning to end from the Sales team’s and Customer’s perspective. We created a flow chart of each time the two would have to interact with one another.

Wireframes
We created most of pages based on the information architecture, while keeping in mind the needs the client wanted and information given. On the homepage I wanted to be sure to include all of the services from residential to commercial, but didn’t want it to be overwhelming. So In the wireframes I included a toggle between residential and commercial, with the default being residential due to the client wanting more residential type jobs. I also multiple ways for users to view and locate the variety of services the client could provide on various pages. For navigation I thought having a mega navigation for the services and locations would also be beneficial for the client’s needs.

Prototype
Our design lead initially came up with three varying designs, but after speaking with the client we decided with a darker theming to follow the new branding closer. (UI Design was created by Freddy)
Custom Iconography
As a team we thought that custom iconography would be beneficial to the client as a ways to personally brand each of the services that could be provided.

Results
With the final design that was created our client was satisfied with the end result, the website will be going live in September and we’re eager to see further results from
this redesign.
If I were given the opportunity to do User Testing with this new website I would have tested out how efficiently users could locate Demers Glass’s more obscure services. As well as speaking with them on how they feel about our form that would connect them to the sales team.
